| | Round 3 Game 3 Brief SummaryMay 26, 2009 - Matt LeaperCarolina Hurricanes vs. Pittsburgh Penguins Penguins lead series 3-0 The game started as if it would be an epic battle. Both teams had plenty of shots and hits. Carolina struck first but then on the Power Play, Malkin capitalized on a mistake and beat Ward. Late in the period, Sid burries an amazing backhand pass from Guerin. Then seconds later Malkin makes it a two goal lead heading into the locker room. The Hurricanes just started to sink at that point. They had played a good period and yet watched it fall away in the final minute. The second period came and went with no goals but it saw Pittsburgh begin its dominant climb. Carolina came out with a spark and put in the first goal to start the third. It looked like it might be a game until, Fedotenko fired a laser past Ward, about half way through the period. Adams added and empty netter and Guerin finished things off with a perfect back hand. You could see how down this team was when you watched the 2nd intermission interview with Joe Corvo. He just looked like he was hit by a truck. Then all the guys in the post game interview looked about the same. It seems like these guys are done, they just can't solve Pittsburgh. Only time will tell. If Carolina is to make a series of this they will need a way to silence Sid and Malkin as well as see Whitney and Staal do some damage. Their top guys are missing from this series and the defense just keeps making critical mistakes. Pittsburgh just needs to stay focussed. Don't engage in any activites after the whistle. If they continue to attack shift after shift they will be unstopable. Next Game Tuesday May 26th @ 7:30 on Versus Article CommentsNo comments posted for this article.
