| | Totally "Lost": A week after "The Incident"May 19, 2009 - Ray EckenrodeDEAD OR ALIVE? Even if whatever happened happened, what was it that happened exactly in 'The Incident'? n ![]() It seems a lot of "Lost" fans had big problems with the finale "fade to white" and felt cheated by not learning what happened when a battered and bloodied Juliet pounded on Jughead's plutonium core with a piece of rock. Did the bomb explode? Did it destroy the island? Or was Faraday right? Did the atomic blast and nearby pocket of electromagnetic energy “cancel each other out” and create a new timeline? We'll find out in about eight months. Some compared the moment to "The Sopranos" fade to black, but that's silly. That was a series finale moment, not a season finale. We'll find out if whatever happened happened in due time. Until then, here's the "15 Minutes" betting line on who's dead or alive. Character: Jack Last seen: Exchanging bullets with Radzinsky's thugs Dead or alive: Alive Note: Jack has a big part to play in the island's end game and no character will be more affected by whether Faraday's theory about a new timeline was correct. Character: Locke Last seen: Um, rolling out of a metal crate, dead as a doornail Dead or alive: Dead is dead Note: We're starting to really dig our own theory that Jacob's spirit will inhabit Locke's body and set up Good Locke (Glocke) versus Bad Locke (Blocke) in the "war" in Season 6. Character: Kate Last seen: Supporting her men in the gunfight at the Swan Station Corral. Dead or alive: Alive Note: What great poetic justice it would be if Juliet's heroic last act took Kate down as well. But alas, no such luck. Character: Juliet Last seen: Trying to detonate Jughead Dead or alive: Dead, but not forgotten. Note: Elizabeth Mitchell is taking the lead in the "V" remake this fall, but the word is she'll be back on "Lost" occasionally. We're guessing that will be in flashbacks. Character: Sawyer Last seen: Being foolishly attracted to Kate Dead or alive: Alive Note: Juliet's death with turn Sawyer's soul black. Which side do you think that puts him on in the war? Character: Sayid Last seen: Bleeding profusely while Jack and Sawyer engaged in a slap fight over the pretty girl Dead or alive: Alive Note: Many, even most, fans think Sayid's cryptic "There's no hope for me" means the end of the line for him. But if "Lost" is ultimately about redemption, who is more likely to be redeemed that a man who's beyond redemption? Character: Hugo Last seen: Driving a blue van to the rescue – again Dead or alive: We’re not sure. Note: On one hand, whatever’s in the guitar case seems pretty important to Jacob. On the other hand, we think Hurley still has work to do in 1977, like recording the transmission of The Numbers that Leonard and Sam Toomey will hear. Character: Desmond Last seen: Recuperating from a gunshot wound in Long Beach Dead or alive: Alive Note: The island’s not done with Desmond yet. Character: Frank Last seen: Being declared a potential candidate Dead or alive: Alive Note: Wethinks Frank has a pivotal role to play. You’ll remember that Smokey didn’t want the pilot of Flight 815 on the island, but that was supposed to be Frank in that seat and he wound up where he was supposed to be in any event. Characters: Claire, Charlie, Michael, Walt Last seen: Cabin sitting, drowned, blowed up real good, at school in New York Dead or alive: Alive, dead, dead, alive. Note: We’re betting all four make appearances in Season 6. How did we miss this!!! Jacob wore gloves -- and was dressed in black from head to toe -- when he enlisted Ilana’s help. Talk amongst yourselves. Article Comments(1)YouJayMay-20-09 11:01 AM you spin me right 'round baby, right 'round, like a record baby........ Post a Comment | |
