Super Bowl recipe

January 30, 2009 - Ashley Gurbal
If you don't want to be the fourth or fifth person to bring buffalo chicken dip to a Super Bowl party, try this Hoagie Dip Spread. The wing dip is good, but it's a given at this point. My friend and coworker over in the Ogden Directories, Mary Jo Ivory, introduced me to this dip at a potluck, and I was sold.

Note: It's a dip, so none of the amounts are very precise -- it depends on the consistency you prefer. For the dressing, start with a few large spoonfuls of mayonnaise and go from there.

Hoagie Dip Spread
1/4 pound bologna
1/4 pound deli (cooked) ham
1/4 pound hard salami
1/4 pound American cheese
1/4 pound provolone cheese
Dice up in small pieces and place mix in a large bowl. Dice an onion and a tomato; add finely chopped lettuce (how much or how little lettuce would be your call.) Add this to the meat and cheese mixture stirring all together.

Dressing
In a bowl, mix mayonnaise amount depends on how much meat & cheese is used. Add crushed red pepper and oregano to taste and then add pickle juice to mayo (again, to taste) and beat with a wisk or large spoon to a nice consistency. Stir in to meat and cheese mixture.

Serve with a loaf of Italian bread.
