| | I just want a MIC stand, is that too much to ask for?January 9, 2009 - Nick Recchia Tom WorthingtonI didn't have much on my christmas list this year. But one thing that I did want was a MIC stand for Rock Band. The last ones that I had seen were at the EB Games inside the Logan Valley Mall. By the end of that day I had told just about everyone that I wanted one of those for christmas. When my mother asked me where to get it I was sure that I would be rocking out with a mic stand by xmas night. Lets skip ahead a few weeks shall we. This year my girlfriend and I ended up opening presents with my parents on xmas eve. But when I got done opening everything I had yet to uncover a mic stand. I didn't sweat it. I thought maybe my girlfriend had bought it for me and I would be getting it in the morning. Yet, xmas morning comes and goes and still no mic stand. I asked everyone why I hadn't gotten the number one thing on my list. Apparently it's harder to come across those things then I thought. In retrospect I should have bought one when I saw it a few weeks earlier. So for the next couple of days I had looked at pretty much every store that sold electronics around Altoona but to no avail. It seemed that either no one had them in stock or had no clue what I was even talking about. Checking online was even more useless. Every site that I checked was either out of stock, not selling them or was on back order. At this point I was kicking myself for not buying one when I had the chance. Lets move ahead to last night. My girlfriend and I had gone to EB Games in the mall so I could preorder LOTR: Conquest so while I was there I thought I would take a look around to see if they had gotten anymore mic stands in. This is where I would like to say that I found one sitting in the corner and I snatched it up. That's what I would like to say but it wouldn't be the truth. So I had thought I would try the GameStop in the WalMart Plaza. I ran in figuring I would be disappointed yet again. And I was...at first. I asked the two guys working there if they had any and they said that they had just sold out of the last one and that they don't really get them in very often and when they do they only get about one or two. I told them that that has been the same story everywhere. One of the clerks asked me if I had checked the new GameStop at the Logan Town Centre. To which I replied "To tell you the truth, I didn't even remember that one was up there." He then said that he would call up there for me and ask if they had any in stock. What I was about to hear was like music to my ears. "So you do have some? Can you hold one back for me? Alright, he is going to hold one back for you." I couldn't believe it, my search for a mic stand for Rock Band was over. So to all of you out there looking and looking for a mic stand for Rock Band/Guitar Hero and you are in or around Altoona, take a trip to the GameStop in the Logan Town Centre. I know that last night at around 8PM that they still had at least one more. I'm not promising anything but it's a good place to start. One last note. If you are in search of a MIC stand and you haven't found one yet here is a nice trick for a temporary stand. Take your drum set and take the pads off of the legs. Then take off one of the legs and stack it ontop of the other leg. Fold the mic cord and place the mic inside the hole of the leg. And there you have it instant mic stand. It may look stupid and it also takes up your drumset but if you are looking to play guitar and sing at the same time it's a simple solution. -Nick Recchia Article CommentsNo comments posted for this article.
