| | Survive winter with styleJanuary 6, 2009 - Ashley GurbalThe sunshine that ushered in 2009 last week was awesome, but as we were all too aware, it wasn't here to stay. With an ice storm predicted for today and at least another two to three months of gloomy winter days ahead, it's easy to fall into a blah state of mind, but you don't have to. Style essentials for surviving the winter: - A winter coat you love: You're going to be wearing it every day; it should at least be something you're comfortable in and a look that makes you feel good. If you haven't found one yet, you might find a treasure or two left on the bargain racks at area stores. Several have marked their outerwear way, way down by now. - A pair of good, sturdy boots: I love heels as much as the next person, but stilettos and ice, snow or slush are a recipe for disaster. There are lots of boots out there that can keep you warm and looking good at the same time -- from fuzzy Uggs and their knockoffs to sleek leather knee-high styles, you can find something that will work with most of your wardrobe. - A hat to keep your hair under control when the wind feels like it's whipping you right in the face. Even a headband would help a little -- or you can do what I've done: embrace the windblown look. - Remember: There's only 70+ days until spring! Article CommentsNo comments posted for this article.
