| | WOW! Oregon State stuns USC!!!!September 26, 2008 - Cory GigerWords like incredible and unbelievable get thrown around way too often in sports, but ... What happened Thursday night truly was unbelievable. The same Oregon State team that looked awful in getting trounced by Penn State, 45-14, pulled off a stunning -- STUNNING -- upset of No. 1 USC, 27-21. That blowout win over the Beavers now looks fantastic on PSU's resume. To think, USC crushed Ohio State, 35-3, then loses to a team that looked terrible against the Nittany Lions. It's still early to dream big, but now the dream certainly seems more plausible that PSU actually could play for a national championship. USC appeared to have an easy path to the title game with its weak schedule. That would have left only one more spot available, which certainly would go to an SEC or Big 12 team if one finishes undefeated. With USC now out of the mix, Penn State only needs one of those conferences to beat up on each other so badly that there is no undefeated team. All I can say is WOW! Talk about a total choke job. Well, Pete Carroll once made that gesture while he was in the NFL, and his team just choked away a shot at a national title Thursday. You can't look at the play of OSU against us compared to their play against the Trojans. Oregon State has given USC fits over the years when they have had the less talented team on the field. Me, I'm keeping my fingers crossed! I'm knocking on wood! And I'm sure as heck sweating and bleeding BLUE and WHITE! FIGHT ON STATE! Its a long long season, and alot can happen....just ask USC. The Oregon State team that showed up against SC in NO WAY looked like the chumps that showed up at Happy Valley three weeks ago.
